Selecting colour schemes

Selecting colour for any commercial painting project can be a daunting task. To help you we have created 24 ready-made colour schemes developed from the most popular selling Glidden Trade colours. The schemes have been organised into four themed groups. Each group is recommended for a different type of environment or style of decor, but can be used anywhere.

Selecting colour schemes

How the schemes work

Each scheme features five carefully selected colours from the Glidden Trade range. The diagram on the right shows how we suggest the colours in each scheme are used within a room. Brilliant White is suitable for trim in vibrant schemes and White for the Classic, Calm and Mid Tone schemes.

Selecing colour schemes is simple

Simply follow the steps below to select your scheme.

  • Select a scheme from any of the four themed groups i.e. Classic, Calm, Mid Tone or Vibrant
  • Use the selected scheme for a single room or area

Remember you can also use a number of schemes together for an entire building. The key is to choose all the schemes from the same themed group.

Recommendations, not rules

The sectors recommended for each group are just suggestions. All the schemes can be used in any setting. There is plenty of scope for creativity and personal judgement.

We have produced paint colours as accurately as electronic media will allow. However, we cannot guarantee an exact colour match of the on-screen colour to be the colours of our actual products, and the colours contained in this guide should not be relied on as such. Colours may vary depending on your on screen settings and resolution.
