The interior of New Earswick Sports Club, in York, has undergone a substantial renovation using a range of Glidden Trade paints after local football team, The Fox FC, triumphed in the brand's national 'Premier Makeover' competition to live and play like a premiership football team. Glidden Trade Undercoat, Glidden Trade High Gloss and Glidden Trade Durable Acrylic Eggshell were used in the dramatic transformation, helping to give the clubhouse a new lease of life.
The Fox FC, which was set up to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer, was selected as the winner of the competition following a fun goal celebration that impressed the team at Glidden Trade. They were also overwhelmed by the club's overall ethos and its support for a fantastic cause.
As part of the prize, which is worth up to £20,000, Glidden Trade arranged for York-based company, Paul Crosby Decorators, to refurbish the entire clubhouse including its function room, changing rooms, corridors and toilets.
Paul Crosby, owner of Paul Crosby Decorators, said: "The clubhouse was in need of a boost. After receiving specification advice from the paint manufacturer's team, we applied Glidden Trade Durable Acrylic Eggshell in varying shades on the walls to provide a tough and washable mid-sheen finish. The paint is extremely durable and can be wiped down easily, so will help the busy clubhouse stay looking clean for years to come."
To brighten up the interior, the walls in the function room, corridors and toilets, were painted in Gardenia, a light beige shade, while a striking selection of colours were chosen to transform the walls in the changing rooms. Cornflower, a soft bright blue, was used to revamp two of the areas.
Paul continues: "Two changing rooms were painted to replicate the colours of the team's football strip. To achieve this, the uppers walls were painted in a striking Barn Red while the lower walls were contrasted in Black."
To enhance the doors and interior woodwork, Glidden Trade Undercoat followed by two coats of Glidden Trade High Gloss was applied. Glidden Trade Undercoat provides excellent coverage, so was the perfect choice to provide a strong base for the trim areas. Glidden High Trade Gloss was then applied to provide a tough and durable high gloss finish.
Commenting on the finished result, The Fox FC chairman and defender, Lee Quickmire, said: "The clubhouse looks fantastic. A fresh lick of paint has really brightened the whole place up and we look forward to enjoying it for years to come.
