Glidden Trade unveils 'Paint and a Pint' winners

Glidden Trade, one of the UK's leading paint brands, has unveiled the winners of its hotly contested 'Paint and a Pint' makeover competition.

After battling it out against entrants from across the country, The Pipers Inn in Ashcott, Somerset, and The Vallum, Dumpling Hall, Newcastle Upon Tyne, were declared winners of a £2,000 transformation. Glidden Trade will now source professional decorators and tradesmen local to the independent pubs to complete the works.

The competition was created by Glidden Trade in a bid to help the country's struggling pub industry. Through 'Paint and a Pint', independent landlords across the country had the opportunity to win a business boosting makeover, which will also includes a consultation with a Glidden Trade colour expert, and a contribution to a reopening party for the local community.

In addition to the top prize winners, three pubs were selected for the second place prize of £500 and a session with a Glidden Trade specification adviser. The winners were The Red Lion, Cheswardine; The Royal Oak Inn, Wantage; and Oddfellows Arms, Swinton.

A further five were awarded with £100 worth of Glidden Trade vouchers to put towards their own makeovers. The winners were The Boot and Shoe, Tadcaster; Waggon and Horses, Halesowen; Somerset Arms, Plymouth; The Frog and Nightgown, Horsham; and The Frog and Orange, Canterbury.
