Glidden Trade has helped to raise thousands of pounds for charity by sponsoring the Foxtonbury festival - a charity event set up by York football club, The Fox FC, to support Marie Curie Cancer Care and Help For Heroes.
To ensure the event was a success, leading trade paint brand, Glidden Trade donated £4,000 following an appeal by the team. The money was put towards securing a stage and professional lighting, for a star-studded musical line-up including nineties chart toppers Shed Seven and D'nile, who recently played at Leeds Festival. Guests also enjoyed music from local bands Thatchers Bush and The SuperModels.
Over 1,000 people turned up to Tadcaster Albion's ground, in North Yorkshire, on Sunday 25th September to enjoy the whole host of family attractions that Foxtonbury had to offer, including a fun fair, face painting, a climbing wall and plenty of food stalls.
To boost donations, The Fox FC took part in two charity football matches during the day against a celebrity team, featuring Royle Family star Ralf Little, and a team made up of former ex-professional footballers.
Speaking after the event, The Fox FC centre forward, Lee Quickmire, said: "Foxtonbury was a complete triumph. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the day and we've managed to raise nearly £6,000 for charity - a fantastic amount. We are so grateful to Glidden Trade for helping us make the event become a reality and, ultimately, helping us to raise thousands of pounds for charity."
The Fox FC was given the sponsorship donation as part of their prize for winning the 'Premier Makeover' competition, run by ScoreStars and Glidden Trade, to win the chance to live and play like a premiership club for the season. The club was selected as the winner of the competition due to its overall ethos and support for a fantastic charity.
As part of the 'Premier Makeove' prize, the pub team from the Fox Inn, Holgate, York have received a clubhouse makeover, exclusive travel to and from away matches, a new kit and washing service and a VIP night out in London for all their WAGs.
Nicolas Guichard, Senior Brand Manager, Glidden Trade, said: "Lee and the rest of the Fox FC team have always put lots of work into raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care, which was one of the reasons why we chose them as the winners of our 'Premier Makeover' competition. We are really proud to support the team and are delighted that the event was a huge success."
