Glidden Trade, one of the UK's leading trade paint brands, has unveiled the winner of its hotly contested 'Premier Makeover' competition. The Fox FC from New Earswick, York, fought off competitors from around the country to win a life-changing prize worth £20,000.
Players in The Fox FC will live like premiership superstars for an entire season, with a makeover for the team's clubhouse, a new kit and kit washing service, executive travel to and from away matches, and a training session with a leading football coach. Even the team's WAGs won't miss out on the action; they'll be getting pampered with beauty treatments and a shopping experience before a VIP night out at a top London club.
The team, which plays in the York Minster Engineering League, was set up to help raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and has already raised over £2,500 for the charity. It was selected as the winner of the Glidden Trade Premier Makeover competition after the trade paint brand was impressed by the club's fun, enthusiastic goal celebration, and its support for a fantastic cause.
For its entry into the competition, The Fox FC submitted captain Lee Quickmire's goal celebration after scoring against Conference side, York City, in a charity match earlier this year. In the clip, Lee opted for the traditional but much-loved, 'shirt over head' celebration, before 'retiring' from the match in a blaze of glory.
Speaking about the colossal win, Lee said: "The team used to give me stick about my belly, but now it's helped us win the once in a lifetime Glidden Trade Premier Makeover competition.
Glidden Trade Premier Makeover is the latest brand awareness campaign created by the trade paint brand. Earlier in 2010, Glidden Trade launched 'Paint and a Pint' a competition which saw two independent pubs each win a £2,000 makeover.
